Dennis De Clercq of Buffl took the lead with an interesting and above all eye opening talk about how a company should create a product (or service). We often think that a product should look or have a certain feature, but afterwards it turns out that the market (and therefore also the end user) are not at all waiting for the product as it was designed. Dennis teaches us that it's best to start from the knowledge we gather about the market and the needs to design products and services that someone is waiting for.
Second on the program we had Valerie Thys. She taught us how to stimulate our inner entrepreneurs' DNA. She also taught us that not everyone has an entrepreneur's DNA and that's not a problem at all. During her presentation, Valerie also disproved a number of entrepreneurial myths, such as "starting a business costs a lot of money", "entrepreneurs earn a lot of money" and "entrepreneurs have an answer to everything".
The last talk was that of Naomi of Creative Shelter. Most creative freelancers pay more taxes than they should. Often it's thousands of euros a year. The main reason: too little time, too much red tape and too complex calculations. In just a few steps, Naomi explained how a creative freelancer can make money with his copyrights.
The participants of Freelancer Focus were pampered by Sel Noir catering. In the kitchens of Foodies Arena they prepared some high-profile and above all tasty snacks.
The fact that everyone was satisfied with this first edition was also shown by the feedback forms. Of course we also received constructive criticism which we will take into account for the next edition. But until then, we're going to enjoy a little afterglow.
